Moksha School of Music is run by Sowmya Srinivasan. She was born and brought up in Chindwara, MP and Nagpur,  she has been living in Charlotte since 2002.

She says, "I have too many interests and not enough time! I love cooking, shopping, painting (haven’t done this in a long time), watching TV, dancing, reading, volunteering at my kids’ schools…. I also manage the usual roles (wife, mother, sister, daughter) reasonably well…naturally, I am not on top all the time. I do the best I can… I think the little choices we make at personal levels are very important, and can make this world a better place. I am passionate about singing".

As a music aficionado, she strongly believes that one lifetime is not enough to perfect music. Her biggest musical influences are her parents (Mrs. Rajalakshmi & Mr S.Rajagopalan) , Ranjini - Gayatri, Unnikrishnan, M.S Subbalakshmi, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsale , RD Burman, Ilayaraja, SPB, Shankar Mahadevan, Janaki & Sonu Nigam.

She has been learning music from the age of 8 and is still pursuing her quest to explore the ocean of music. She has learnt Carnatic, Hindustani and Western Classical. She likes to sing classical, semi-classical, and light music.

Over the last 4 years she has been rendering her voice for charitable causes through Moksha Group in Charlotte.
